Seth Austin started with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) in 2016 and began serving as Director of the Office of Vital Records in 2020. In 2023, he was appointed as the State Registrar by the State Health Commissioner. Prior to his service with VDH, Seth worked for his local school division in a variety of roles, ranging from school bus driver to Energy Manager, for more than a decade. He also served in the United States Army in the Military Intelligence field. Seth has a master's degree from Liberty University and a bachelor's degree from Old Dominion University. He has a wife and 13-year-old son. As a family, they enjoy traveling the world and cheering for the NBA's Dallas Mavericks.
