New CDC PLACES Data for Every Census Tract in the Nation

The PLACES Project is a collaboration between CDC, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), and the CDC Foundation (CDCF). PLACES will allow counties, places, and local health departments regardless of population size and urban-rural status to better understand the burden and geographic distribution of health-related outcomes in their jurisdictions and assist them in planning public health interventions.

PLACES is an extension of the original 500 Cities Project that provided city and census tract estimates for chronic disease risk factors, health outcomes, and clinical preventive services use for the 500 largest US cities. The PLACES Project provides model-based population-level analysis and community estimates to all counties, places (incorporated and census-designated places), census tracts, and ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs) across the United States.

STEVE Hands On Training

NAPHSIS will be conducting a training on STEVE (State and Territorial Exchange of Vital Events) on January 21, 2021 at 2pm ET and a follow-up training on January 25, 2021 at 3pm ET. This training event will provide users with more in-depth training on STEVE, including setting up mailboxes and data routes. Demonstrations will be shown, and questions will be answered by NAPHSIS staff. Both events will be recorded and made available to those unable to attend.

During the training, participants will set up their own mailboxes with the help of NAPHSIS staff. If you are interested in attending this training, please click here to register.

January 25 Training at 3pm ET

During this training event, participants will use the mailboxes set up on January 21 and configure routes to data they are allowed to share with each specific mailbox. . If you are interested in attending this training, please click here to register.
