NAPHSIS 2008-12 Goals and Objectives



National Standards	Develop national vital records/statistical standards to improve data collection, data quality, statistical analysis, registration, exchange, issuance and security.
	Promote improvement in vital records practices
	Promote vital statistics standards

Electronic Systems	Support jurisdctions in implementing electronic systems to collect, maintain and disseminate records and data in a way that is timely, accurate and protects confidentiality and security.
	Implement EVVE nationwide
	Implement and maintain STEVE
	Increase the use of electronic systems to collect and disseminate vital statistics data
	Promote the electronic exchange of information to reduce vital records fraud

Advocacy	Provide national leadership and advocacy on behalf of NAPHSIS members.
	Promote federal policies that would benefit the vital statistics system
	Educate policy makers and federal agencies on the need to support the vital statistics system
	Provide information and resources to NAPHSIS members to assist in jurisdictional advocacy

Best Practices	Promote best practices.
	Promote practices that improve the timeliness, quality and security of vital statistics data
	Promote practices that improve the analysis and use of vital statistics
	Communicate the role and performance of jurisdicitional vital statisitcs units
	Strengthen the communication to NAPHSIS members
	Increase Vital Records/Statistics training

Partnerships	Strengthen partnerships and collaboration with key stakeholders.
