2009 NAPHSIS/NCHS Joint Meeting

Thank you to all who attended this year's NAPHSIS/NCHS Joint Meeting.  We hope you found the meeting productive and enjoyed your time in Baltimore.  Online evaluations will be emailed to all attendees, so please be on the lookout for that message and take some time to provide us your feedback on this year's meeting.

Legislative Issues

We have added a new page to our Website where members can track legislative hot topics that are making the rounds through state legislatures.  By placing on this page the details of a bill currently under consideration in a member's jurisdiction, it is hoped that other members will be able provide feedback on how the proposed bill might impact their office, coordinate on a response to the proposed bill, or simply learn more about the issue.  Please see the Legislative Issues page for more information.

Gestational Age Report

A NAPHSIS committee reviewed papers published on the issue of the definition of gestational age and has released their report entitled Recommendations on Measuring and Improving Quality of Gestational Age Data.  Please see this page of our Website for full information.

Training Resources

We have added several pages of Training Resources to our Website, and we encourage our members to make use of them.  Currently this section houses libraries of Birth Certificate and Death Certificate completion materials that the jurisdictions have provided to us, as well as a page describing Vital and Health Statistics Courses available around the country.  More pages of training materials are under development and will be released in this section in the near future.  Please let us know whether these are helpful to you, or what else you would like to see made available.
